Arduino MKR1000 contest

For those interested, Arduino MKR1000 is a new board that Arduino is launching the next February 2016. It’s focus it in the IoT realm.  Arduino and Microsoft have joined forces and initiate a contest which the 1000 first pre-selected candidates will win a brand new Arduino MKR1000 board before they are even released to the public.

The contest is aimed at Inventors, artists, hobbyists, professionals and developers alike. Check the rules of the contest. The basic requirements to participate is to Use an Arduino Uno or an MKR1000, and use Windows 10 to build an app. There are some other bonuses that you can check in the contest main site.

This board will join the forces of 2 main Arduino chain components: High computational power of the Arduino Zero and the connectivity of the WIFI shield. It’s going to be perfect for your own wireless projects. It also comes with encryption hardware to make connections secure.

The 3 finalists winning with best projects will be awarded with a fully-funded trip to either Maker Faire Shenzhen, New York or Rome. Their projects will be present at the Microsoft and the Arduino and Genuino booths, and their project will be recorded by a professional video production team. Not to forget a whopping $500 gift certificate to Adafruit shop.

  2. Pre-contest closes: Jan 15, 2016 at 11:59 PM PT
  3. Pre-contest winners announced: Jan 22, 2016
  4. Project submissions open: Feb 1, 2016 at 12:01 AM PT
  5. Project submissions close: Mar 14, 2016 at 11:59 PM PT
  6. Winners announced: Mar 18, 2016
